Summer is winding down, and before you know it, it will be back to school time!
For some parents, back to school sparks panic and dread. For others, it brings excitement and relief. Whatever you're feeling, there's one thing for sure: back to school season can be super stressful if you're not prepared.
Regardless if you're a seasoned pro or if it's your first time around the school block, here are a few tips to make the transition from summer to school easier for you and your family.
Take it slow
It’s much easier to get into the back to school mood when it’s done gradually...even if you’re itching to get the kids on the bus. Prepare your little ones (and yourself) for the morning rush by prepping ahead of time to ensure smooth sailing.
Hit the hay early
Adjust bedtimes little by little to get the kiddos ready for early mornings. Start setting those alarm clocks a week or two before school, and head to bed earlier than usual to help your kids warm up to the idea of early rising. Parents, you can benefit from this too!
Shop till you drop
Get the school supply shopping out of the way earlier rather than later. Trust us- you don’t want to be that parent running up and down the aisle the night before searching for a specific backpack or notebook. To make shopping more fun, bring the kids along! Let them pick out their fave pencil cases, lunch boxes and stickers. This will get them excited for the school year to come.
Become a bookworm
Crack open a book with your little bookworm before the school year starts to get them into a scholarly mindset. For most kids, reading is the last thing on their mind in the summer, so even a few pages a day can help prepare them for school.
Plan the first-day outfit
Is there a bigger fashion moment in a little girl’s life than the first day of school outfit? We don’t think so! Double check the school dress code and plan an outfit in advance to make the morning run a little smoother. Make sure your little princess is wearing something she feels comfortable and confident in!
